Busy Week

This week has been pretty hectic. I was in Miami Monday-Wednesday for a Timeshare seminar through work and upon returning home, I've been playing catch up at work and spending time with my little man. Not to mention I have more presents to buy and wrap for Christmas. Where is the time going?!

I'll leave you with some pictures to sum up the week.

What you're seeing: In the elevator before dinner, on a break at the seminar, at waffle house for breakfast, and the view on South Beach.

What you're seeing: Sprawled out for nap time, staring at Momma, hating Bumbo time, and matching with Daddy.

A Charlie Brown Christmas

Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer

and my all time favorite....

Miracle on 34th Street

This makes me want to go home pop in some old movies and wrap some gifts.
After I finish my tree of course!

It's ok Thursday!

Today I am linking up with Neely @ A Complete Waste of Makeup for It's Ok Thursdays

It's ok...

To only have your tree half decorated. I was not expecting half of my lights to blow.

To leave your newborn son with a sitter during the day while you're working and trying to provide a better life for him.

That Christmas is in 3.5 weeks and only I've only bought half of the presents I need to.

To FINALLY have Outlook on my work computer. WINNING!

To take a year off of school. At least I'm finally going back!

To write this blog while I'm at work. Sssshhh!!

To want to make stuffing after Thanksgiving.

To only have 3 followers. (One being myself) It's not a competition!

To not be as interested in Pinterest now as I was when it wasn't popular.

To fall asleep at 9:30 PM. We all need out beauty rest, right?

Thanksgiving recap.

It's crazy how much I anticipated Thanksgiving and now it is already gone and Christmas is only 28 days away! This was the first Thanksgiving that I cooked by myself (almost).

I spent almost 7 hours cooking on Thursday. YES. 7 hours. My Mother-in-law helped me clean the turkey out and I am grateful because that is the part I was least excited about.

Everything turned out pretty well. I didn't burn the house down and no one threw away my food. YES! Even though I was cooking all day I found myself to be relaxed. I fed Jordan and changed diapers in between making side dishes. I'm pretty sure that he loved having Mommy and Daddy home all day because we had one happy boy!

After dinner I made the desserts. Of course a pumpkin pie but also some mini apple pies. I got the recipe from pinterest here. It was a pretty simple recipe and the pies came out delicious!! They were light and fluffy (if that even makes sense) and tasted great for breakfast with coffee the next morning.

After dinner we of course headed out for some Black Friday shopping. We went to the Orlando Premium Outlets. The traffic was crazy and the stores were packed but we got some great deals and I am now about 50% done with my Christmas shopping. Why is it taking me so long? I started in October!! Speaking of Christmas, we are supposed to put our tree up tomorrow. Yippee!!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksiving!! Now onto Christmas!!

fill in the blank Friday!

1.   A nervous habit I have is     Cracking my nuckles. This is a new habit that I've picked up and it's already making my fingers hurt. Make it stop!

2.   Something that makes me sad is   my son crying with tears. A majority of his cries are fake and whimpers. But when little tears start to come out my heart breaks. I never want him to be unhappy.
3.  Today I am thankful for    my husband, my son, my mother-in-law(she is amazing) and my job. .

4. My favorite room in my house is    my bedroom. I love that our bed (king) is big enough for my husband, the baby and I  to get comfortable while watching TV or hanging out.

5.  I can't stand    waiting at school for 3 hours before registering for classes. Ridiculous. But atleast it's all taken care of.

6.  If I had an extra $100 to spend on whatever I wanted today I would    buy these Steve Madden Intyce boots. I have had my eye on them for several weeks but haven't justified spend the extra hundred dollars yet.

7.  The last person I hung out with was    my hubby and brother-in-law. We went to Gators Dockside last night for some wings and to watch the football game.

Thanksgiving is one week away!

Man this year has flown by so quickly. I cannot believe Thanksgiving is only one week away! Earlier this week I finally settled on our plans. Every year we usually go to my brother and sister-in-law’s house and spend Turkey Day with them and their children but after some thought, we’ve decided that we are going to cook at home this year. Now that Jordan is in our life, it is time to start our own family traditions and cooking a Thanksgiving dinner is one of them. It’ll be my first time ever cooking a turkey and I couldn’t be more nervous. The whole dinner is solely riding on me. At least Jordan will never remember if I burn the turkey. J
I just came up with our meal plan. Something simple but all must haves.
Turkey with gravy (of course)
homemade mashed potatoes
sweet potato casserole with pecans
green beans
stuffing (probably not homemade)
dinner rolls
cranberry sauce
deviled eggs for appetizer
cheese tray for appetizer
shrimp cocktail for appetizer
pumpkin pie
homemade mini apple pies

As long as my turkey looks like this, I’ll be happy!

What are some must have Thanksgiving traditions in your family? Any foods you make that are out of the norm?

I do know that I just had a baby less than 3 months ago but the old size 2 woman in me WANTS HER BODY BACK!! During my pregnancy I gained 55 pounds. Yes fifty-fi ve! Because of breastfeeding I was able to lose 30 of that right away but I’m still left with the unwanted 25. I doubt that I will EVER weigh 125 pounds again but I would be happy with losing 10-15. At 5’9” and 125 pounds I understand that I was a little too thin.
Want to know the most stressful part about not losing your baby weight instantly? (because that’s what is supposed to happen of course) SHOPPING! I am a shopper by nature. On-line, in-store or thrifting. You name it, I do it. But when you are 25 pounds heavier than you’ve ever been, things can get really stressful really fast. I simply do not know my size or what style looks best on me anymore. Nothing is more frustrating than going to 5 stores and not finding one article of clothing! Since this happened to me this past weekend, I’ve decided to actually do something about it. I need to get my health and body back in order.
It’s very easy to say that I am going to exercise. The hard part is actually doing it. I get off from work at 5pm every day and as soon as I get home, it’s Mommy Mode! Cooking, cleaning, bottle making, diaper changing, and goo-goo ga-ga Mommy Mode. Between all of this I need to find 20 minutes a day to work on myself. If that means waking up early or staying up late, I WILL find time to take care of my body and to exercise. No excuses. To make sure that I’m not just saying this and that I will actually get off my ass and do it, I will start logging my exercises on here. This way I HAVE TO stick to it!
I’ll probably start small with just stretching, crunches, jumping jacks etc. We’ll see what I come up with tonight. ;-) What are some of your favorite exercises and how did you cope with getting your body back on track after having  a baby?

Birth Story....Part Two

After being given Cervadil, the hours seemed to go by so slow. Abdullah arrived back at the hospital with my hospital bag and necessities. While waiting it out Omar and Walid (my brother in-laws) showed up at the hospital to wish us good luck. To help time pass we started playing cards. Soon after we started, around 7 a clock, my head nurse rushed into the room. She stated that her beeper went off because the babies heart rate had dropped. Significantly. His heart rate should be between 140-160 and it had dropped down to 80 and stayed there for about 90 seconds. Once he had recovered his heart rate to a normal speed all was good. She had to explanation as to why it dropped but she just knew that we need to monitor it closely. About 10 minutes later she rushed in again. His heart rate dropped again. And again 15 minutes after that. By this point we were very concerned.

Our Doctor came into the room to give some sort of explanation. He felt that Jordan was having some sort of reaction to the cervadil and he was concerned for how long this could go on. Because I was not dialated at all, the doctor explained that he wanted to go in for an emergency C-Section. This caused me to become teary eyed. I never thought that I would have a C-Section. I read books on labor and researched so much on line but never did I educate myself on C-Sections. (Dumb on my part, I know) I knew that I wanted to try for a natural labor but never did it occur to me that something would go wrong and I would need a C-Section. Naïve, I know.

I asked the doctor how long I had because I really wanted to take a shower…. the things women think about. He said that he was taking me in 5 minutes. 5 minutes? Abdullah started calling family members to let them know and the next thing I knew, I was being wheeled to the C-Section wing where I was prepped for surgery. At around 9:00 pm I was wheeled into the surgery room. I was given a Spinal to numb my body. I laid on my back and waited for it to kick in. The next 45 minutes went by so fast. I remember feeling really loopy and wanting to fall asleep. As the surgery progressed, I was so happy to have my Husband there. He kept petting my head and reassuring me that I would soon be holding my baby boy. Sure enough at 9:54 Jordan Lawrenz Quttaineh was born. He weighed 8 pounds even and was 20.5 inches tall. The moment that Abdullah put the baby in front of me and we locked eyes, is a moment that I will never forget.

Birth Story....Part One

On August 30th, at 8:30am, we went in for our 40 week appointment. I was 40 weeks and 4 days pregnant and the appointment started out just as any other. My weight was up, blood pressure was normal and I was neither dilated nor effaced. After hearing that I had no signs or symptoms of labor in sight the Doctor wanted to do an Ultrasound to check our baby’s positioning and movement. The ultrasound showed a big boy in perfect positioning and he seemed to be pretty comfortable and complacent. The Doctor ordered for us to do a NST (Non Stress Test) which monitors the baby’s heart rate against any movement in my uterus. After 45 minutes of being strapped to this machine the doctor walks in and says that he has decided that he would like for us to go to the hospital today to start the birthing process. I was shocked. Originally we had decided to wait it out as long as we could before we started an induction. That was 41 weeks at our office and we still had 3 days! I did not want to force baby Jordan out before he was ready; I knew that he would come on his own time. However, the Doc did not want to wait.
Because I was not effaced at all, the process to ripen my cervix could take several days to complete. It could even be 3-4 days before we actually start laboring and because he did not think I would efface enough on my own by Friday, waiting was not in the cards. He also stated that because I was going in for an induction that my risk of having a C-Section would go up. I already knew this and had starting to tear up. Since day one I had wanted to have a natural birth with no medication. I had everything planned out and I did not even want to hear the words “C-Section”. It was just not in my birth plan.
We were ordered to go straight to Winnie Palmer Hospital and were told not to make any stops on the way. So, at around 10:15 Abdullah dropped me off and he drove home to grab our hospital bag. I was ushered straight to a Labor and Delivery room where I changed into a hospital gown.
At around 1:30 pm the nurse came gave me my first dose of cervadil & the next few hours went by extremely slow. I did not feel any different and kept thinking that I was rushed into coming to the hospital too early. In all honesty, I would have rather been at work. Then the Nurse came in and told me to relax and to look at this as a mini vacation because I was going to be here for a while. Great……

Part 2 coming shortly.

38 weeks & 2 weeks to go!!!!!

We’re finally in the home stretch!! It’s hard to imagine that he can come at anytime but with no Braxton Hicks, contractions, or other signs of labor I think it’ll still be a little while longer & I don’t mind! I’m still trying to take advantage of naps in the evening. ;-) Abdullah seems to think I’ll go around the 23rd and I feel more like September 1st. Any bets??

We got to see baby Jordan at our doctor’s appt last week and he is in perfect position for birth (His head is down with his face towards my back). Great news!

How far along are you?: 38 weeks

How big is baby?: Approximately 6 - 9 pounds, and about as long as he's going to get until he's born. The remaining weeks are just him putting on the extra weight.

Weight gain/loss?: +40. Ahhhh! I never thought I would gain this much, but it's all for the baby, right?

Stretch marks?: None on the ass,  few on the belly and my boobs have seen better days.....

Maternity clothes?: I’m living in maxi dresses, skirts and linen shorts. Everything else ends up being too tight by the end of the day!

Sleep?: Ugh. Between the 4-5 trips to the bathroom in the middle of the night, being woken up by heart burn, or the sudden urge to snack on Chips A Hoy cookies & milk at 6 am, it’s been better. The snacking seriously has to stop!

Best moment this week?: Finishing the bedroom/nursery. It feels so good. Like ahh. I can finally take a deep breath and relax now.

Food cravings?: Ice cream and French dressing oddly.

Gender?: Handsome little Boy!

Movement?: All day long. It’s crazy how strong they’re getting. Sometimes his kicks are so hard it wakes me up in bed or has me jump in my chair.

Belly button?: I wouldn't say it has "popped," but it definitely isn't "in.".

Labor Signs?: None. The Doctor says my cervix is completely shut.

What do I miss?: Fitting in my clothes, not having back pains or sore knees, and not getting uncomfortable every 5 minutes in bed.

What I'm looking forward to this week? Getting my iPhone 4 fixed! I can’t wait to take pictures and videos of my little man once he’s born!

The weekend is over. Sigh.

The weekend is over. Sigh. I honestly can’t wait for Friday afternoon to come again. The weekends are going by so fast and I am NOT happy about it, but I am happy that Abdullah now gets the weekends off! His boss allowed him to change his schedule to M-F 9-5 and coming in on the weekend is optional for him. I had some high hopes for what we would get done this weekend, but we ended up just “going with the flo” and enjoying our selves. We finally bought new lamps for our bedside tables on Friday @ Target. (Pictures coming soon) I can’t wait for our room/nursery in room to be completed. I will actually feel like I can relax and not be so OCD about everything. Saturday, we actually picked up the pace a little and went to a driving range in the afternoon. Mind you, I have never seriously hit a golf ball before. (Playing around in the back yard at 10 doesn’t count) We hot golf balls for a solid 40 minutes and I was worn out, but I had a ton of fun! And actually might have done a little better then Abdullah, but sshhh. Don’t rub it in. He gets a little sensitive about not being the best at everything. J After going home and showering we headed over to my brother’s house to see the kiddos and everyone else. Every time I spend more than a week away from Victoria and Junior it feels like 2 months. They just keep getting bigger and bigger. Junior already has his bottom 2 teeth and the top 2 are coming down too! It won’t be too long before Jordan will be here and he’ll have a little boy his age to hang out with! It was great seeing some family on Saturday, but now if I could get my butt over to my Grandmother’s house, (which is way overdue) I will be completely satisfied.
Sunday was our lazy day. We slept in, ate a yummy breakfast (weekends are good for that), and did some cleaning. Then my amazing Best Friend Megan came over and it was soo good to catch up. I feel like we’re both so busy between work, and her going to school AND having an internship that it’s hard to actually find a day we’re both not busy to spend some QT together. Needless to say, we were overdue, however, she is one of those few friends that you do not need to see every day, or talk to every week, because the minute you do hang out, you can catch up in a matter of minutes.
After a yummy lunch and some shopping she departed on her 29 minutes journey home. Lol. Abdullah and I laid in bed exhausted and popped in the movie “Limitless.” I have already watched this movie with my sister but it was soo good that I did not mind watching it again. It’s one of those movies where it is actually better the second time around because you pick up on more of the small sayings that you didn’t notice before. If you haven’t seen Limitless, you definitely should! All I can say is that within the first 15 minutes I was sold on wanting one of those pills. J

So, this weekend was pretty eventful; I wouldn’t go as far as saying productive because I did have a To Do list and only accomplished… ooooo… say 2 things. I really should pick up the pace a little. To get myself motivated, I figured I would share my Baby To-Do List with you guys. This is everything I still need to do in no particular order:
1.       Take maternity photos.
2.       Create a Baby Book or buy this one off Etsy.
3.       Purchase car seat protector and install car seat.
4.       Wash NB and 0-3 months clothing.
5.       Pack diaper bag.
6.       Pack hospital bag! (This should be in bold and at the top)
7.       Address and stamp envelopes for baby announcements.
8.       Hang nautical decorations over crib.
9.       Sterilize bottles, pump, pacifiers etc.
10.   Figure out/purchase Jordan’s home coming outfit. I really want this.
11.   Purchase monitor for when I go back to work.
12.   Purchase nursing tank tops from Target.
And I promise, the list was a lot longer. I have actually done some things. J

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

My First Post!

Starting a blog has been something that I've wanted to do for several months but just recently (today) have found the energy to do. So much has happened in my/our life in the past several months, that I wish I had started sooner but since I can't go back in time, today is better than never! I wanted to start this blog to write about the journey of becoming a Mom, a Wife, and everything in between.

So….. how do I start my first post? I guess I’ll tell you a little about me. I am married to the most amazing husband a girl could ask for. We are newlyweds; it’s only been 7 weeks and 3 days since we said “I do.” We are also expecting a little boy to be born on August 26th. With only 4 weeks and 4 days away from our EDD (estimated due date) you can imagine the excitement and anticipation building up inside to meet our little man. We’re not completely ready for his arrival, yet, but that’s why they give you 40 weeks right? We still have some last minute organizing and packing (hospital bag) but once that’s done all we have to do is sit and wait for Jordan to make his first appearance into this world!

We are extremely blessed to have the love and support of our family and friends through these amazing moments. Words cannot describe our gratitude. We love you all.
